Where exactly is Agios Stephanos?

Agios Stephanos is situated on the Northeast coast of Corfu Island between Kerasia and Kassiopi, almost directly opposite from the other Agios Stephanos on the west side of Corfu, located between Sidari and Arillas. Agios Stephanos is 35 km from Corfu Town and just 3 km from renowned Kassiopi. It is also near to Sinies and for reasons of accuracy, it is called Agios Stephanos Sinion in order to avoid the confusion between the two Agios Stephanos villages.

The resort of Agios Stephanos covers all the facilities for a privileged holiday. There are four tavernas, all ideally located on the harbour front, offering Greek traditional cuisine. Two bars, two mini markets, tourist shops, a tourist office for money exchange, public telephone and a post box.

The visitors can easily park in the Agios Stephanos car park.

Public Transport

The village of Agios Stephanos is away from the main road (approx. ½ hour walking distance). There the buses pass regularly on the way to Kassiopi or Corfu Town. Car hire is useful for your local transportation, as you will find most of the accommodation located on the surrounding hills of the San Stephanos bay. It is also necessary for exploring the picturesque villages and the beautiful unspoiled beaches around the area.

From Agios Stephanos onwards North:

Avlaki : A shingle and sand beach. Set in a very underdeveloped area, with only a few tavernas and a windsurfing club.

Kassiopi : A very popular and lively resort, with many bars, tavernas, restaurants, gift shops, supermarkets and A.T.M. machines. Place of archaeological interest as well. The beaches are very small and pebbled, and are hidden away around the headland.

Agios Spyridonas : This is a small bay that has barely been developed except for a taverna and a scattering of villas. It has a sandy beach and the Andinioti Lagoon is nearby. The lagoon is a protected wildlife reserve, which attracts numerous species of birds, mammals, wild flowers and insects.

Ano Perithia: A beautiful old church welcomes you into the village. When you stroll through the village, you get an eerie feeling as you see the abandoned houses with the shutters hanging off and the doors wide open. Walk through the cobbled streets and eventually you will be in the village square, where you will find two outdoor tavernas.

From Agios Stephanos towards South

Kerasia: Few villas and one taverna residing in this undeveloped but popular area. A nice stop for swimming and snorkelling. The way to Kerasia is through Agios Stephanos.

Kouloura: This small harbour with fishing boats is set against a backdrop of cypress and pine trees and there is only one taverna. There is an old chapel of Ag. Nicolas. The nearest beach is just a little further along at Houhoulio. Upon Kouloura’s cape, an old estate stands since the 11th century and now belongs to the Agnelli family.

Kalami: This is one of the most popular, but unspoiled, resorts in Corfu Island. It is ideal for quiet relaxing holidays. It is highly recommended for the visitors of San Stephanos to spend a day in Kalami enjoying their swimming or having a meal in one of the beach front tavernas. Easy walking access.

Kaminaki: A beautiful small hamlet with a white pebble beach and two small tavernas. Ideal for snorkelling.

Nissaki: The sleepy Nissaki village has just a sprinkling of tavernas and local shops. A small road reaches the exquisite, but tiny, white shingle coves.
